Rationale behind the Annual Forum Series
• LNG AND NATURAL GAS FOR POWER AND INDUSTRIES THAILAND FORUM 2018 •
• 05 - 07 November 2018 ● ST REGIS HOTEL, BANGKOK, THAILAND •
As part of OPTIMIZING LNG AND LPG TRADE IN ASIA event theme, which is endorsed and supported by Prime Minister Office and Ministry of Energy Thailand, the upcoming LNG and Natural Gas for Power and Industries Thailand Forum 2018 and is a neutral one stop business matching and deal making platform for LNG and Natural gas in Thailand, especially for power generation and industries.
With Thailand expected to boost its LNG imports over the next few years to meet increasing domestic demand, the need to fast track LNG and natural gas infrastructure is a must for the power generation sector and industries. Currently, Thailand uses nearly 70% natural gas for power and have become increasing reliant on LNG imports to meet shortages.
With PTT’s Map Ta Phut and Nong Fab LNG terminals already opened up for rental by end users such as EGAT, business opportunities will inevitably open up.
State-owned Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) is committed to importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) by early next year with plans for a new floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) with 5 Million tonnes capacity annually.
At present, EGAT is seeking expressions of interest for an initial 1.5 million tonnes of LNG through an agreement with PTT’s LNG terminal, starting March 2019.
The FSRU project is set to supply gas for gas-fired power plants operated by EGAT including in South Bangkok, Bang Pakong and Wang Noi.
The forum will be the neutral platform for stakeholders and decision makers to hear case studies, business opportunities and network with the LNG and natural gas industry, notably those involved with power generation and industries.
Among the key topics to be discussed includes LNG and Gas Infrastructure, Distribution, Gas storage and transportation and Bio LNG.
